Born in Japan, Kensaburo Igarashi began his ministry as a Colporter Missionary with the American Baptist Publication Society in 1934. Working in the Sacramento Valley area, he visited settlements of Japanese migrants, establishing several Sunday Schools. In 1941, the work was transferred to the American Baptist Home Mission Societies. He served as an Issei pastor at several incarceration sites, including Tule Lake, Rowher and Heart Mountain. In 1945, he returned to Sacramento and pastored both the Camellia Baptist Center and Japanese Baptist Church in Sacramento for many years.
