History Matters Campaign Baptist history matters, not only to those of us who are Baptist, but world-wide:

  • Citizens today of Myanmar (Burma) know about Adoniram Judson, even if they're not Baptist.
  • The First Amendment to the U.S.Constitution guaranteeing freedom of religion is due in large part to the lobbying efforts of Baptists in Virginia.
  • The women's ministries of the Church of God in Christ can be traced back to the spark of a young woman who went to the camps to teach black soldiers in the Union Army how to read, supported only by her Illinois church's Sunday School.

More stories remain uncovered. Learn more about the American Baptist HIstorical Society and why it deserves your support.
